River Crossings  and Big Cat Diary

The location of the lodge for one of the best Adventure Photo Tours we have chosen provides so much game viewing, that we do not have a set itinerary for each day. Mara Simba lodge is located just 500 metres from the entrance of the Mara Reserve. We will obviously target any migration river crossings that are occurring. Our driver guides will be in radio contact with other guides at all the known crossing points and we are less than 2 hours from any of these. (The animals mass on one bank and generally take quite some time plucking up courage to actually cross). We will also target certain species each day. Obviously we will photograph anything interesting along the way, but by having specific targets, you make it almost certain that you will view each animal at some point. Spending six or ten nights at this one fantastic safari location should provide ample opportunity to track down any chosen subject during any of our adventure photo tours.

We have purchased entry permits to the Masai Mara National Reserve for the entire 8 nights  of the safari. This obviously allows us stay the Masai Mara National Reserve to view the major crossings of the Mara River. Nothing has been left to chance.  This is the area where Jonathan Scott and Simon King can be found when the BBC are filming for the Big Cat Diary series. This area is home to the largest pride of lions in the Mara, the Marsh Pride.  Each photographer is guaranteed a seat on the outside of the safari vehicle. The camp has facilities to charge all your electrical appliances during all our epic photo tours.

Mara Simba Lodge, Masai Mara

The Mara Simba lodge sits overlooking a dramatic bend on the bank of the Talek, a tributary of the Mara River, gently blending into the surrounding wilderness. Stretching almost a kilometer along the river the grounds on the bank remain in their virgin condition, while the landscaped gardens filled with indigenous trees at the back draw a great variety of birds and butterflies. The lodge was conceived with an emphasis on exclusivity and comfort. It was designed to complement its surroundings and is decorated in Maasai traditional style. Wide, well-lit pathways connect the Public areas and rooms.
